When my earlier computer went to silicone heaven, I was faced with the task of buying new software. I’m a developer and have used Photoshop permanently but it’s so expensive, particularly if I’d just bought a new laptop. So was my challenge – may I work without Photoshop here? MAY I discover something free that I possibly could use instead? Well, that was over this past year and I don’t miss Photoshop whatsoever.
I love this photograph. It’s a stock image I purchased after some duration ago and I’ve used it in several designs. But the problem is that it has a good white background. How do I change that? Not merely can I do this free, without the need of any special computer programs, but it takes only a complete minute and it is very easy to do. By using pixels (I take advantage of the Google Chrome application but it’s available as a website too) anyone can achieve professional results.
When I discovered this online app, I thought it was likely to be a substandard version of the professional programs I’ve used for the last two decades. Maybe’ I thought ‘I can use it until my funds have retrieved and I can buy proper professional equipment again.’ That hasn’t been necessary. So here’s a demonstration displaying you how to easily produce a transparent background for your images – in mere minutes.
If you’re in a rush, click to jump to the quick guide here. You can view in the image above that the sunflower is currently outlined. It is because I’ve tapped on the white area with the wand tool. The wand tool (also called the ‘magic wand’) is the third button down on the remaining hand part of the toolbar – you can see that it is selected because of its paler color.

Click the ‘edit’ hyperlink on the top horizontal toolbar. You will see the option to ‘invert selection’.Choose this program. You have done this Once, click ‘edit’ again. This right time, select ‘duplicate’. Click ‘file’ at the top left of the horizontal toolbar and then ‘new image’. You will see a popup (as shown in the screenshot above) where everything is already done.
All you must make sure to do is check the box alongside the term ‘transparent’. The screenshot above teaches you a new canvas area has now opened. The gray and white history confirms that your new image will have a clear background. Remember that in the previous step we copied the selected area?
Now, all we need to do is paste via the ‘edit’ link. You can see on the screenshot above that the sunflower is currently pasted into the new image with the gray and white history indicating its transparency. All we have to do is save the image Now. When the dialogue box arises (as pictured above) you can title your image.
Be sure to save the images as a png document. Start to see the dropdown package above. Now I could use my sunflower on any history I wish. Plain, textured, with or without copy – my image is suddenly a lot more adaptable and can be used in so many different ways. Here are the six quick and easy steps for a quick reference point. I had been delighted to discover that there is no need for me to buy Photoshop. Even though I’ve been using it for so a long time, it’s been easy to adjust to the free online app. I looked long and hard though to find a free or less costly substitute for InDesign.
I used InDesign daily and I knew that it was an application I couldn’t do without. It’s the professional design tool. The cost was prohibitive though but I found an excellent solution – the cloud version. Start to see the column on the to learn more. At onetime, these professional programs were only available at a high cost – often it was the look-studio owners who bore the cost to ensure that their designers had the latest up-to-date versions.
